I was blind without knowing it
It was a severe case of self-inflicted blindness
No mask covering my eyes
No hands obstructing my vision
Nothing but a genuine desire to neglect.
I chose to dance to my own rhythm
Moving carelessly through pain
Daydreaming about alternative realities
Caressing chaos as it were a harmless creature.
Life woke me up abruptly,
Forcing me to abandon my mental shelter
I saw my world in ruins for the very first time
And here, static under the rubble, I wish to have opened my eyes
I now regret not having seen… while I was still free.
